Celebrating Valentine’s Day in Taiwan

In Taiwan, we celebrate Valentine’s Day of February 14th, but besides February 14th, we have a special Valentine’s Day on July 7th of the lunar calendar.

This special day comes from a Chinese fairy tale from a long time ago. Both of these Valentine’s Days are important in my country.
When these days arrive, flowers are more expensive, but there are still many men who like to spend a lot of money to buy special bouquets for girls.

The Language of Flowers

The flowers all look very beautiful, but they are expensive. There are many “languages” in the flowers. One red rose means an only love. Eleven roses mean a favorite. Ninety-nine roses mean forever. One hundred and eight mean marry me.
