Sonja
Elsegood has many professional experiences
and interests. She is especially
interested in computer mediated
communication and is a member of
Webheads.

Hi everyone, Im Sonja Elsegood
and like many of you Ive been an adult
educator for many years. Over the years Ive
taught ESL and also Indonesian. Ive also
worked with my partner in our own private training
& consulting business developing cross-cultural
training courses. My most recent ESL job was
teaching Academic English and IELTS exam
preparation. Currently I am completing a fully
online masters of applied linguistics. These
studies have made me increasingly interested in
computer mediated communication. Recently Ive
joined Webheads and also begun to volunteer for EFI
(English for Internet in Real time)
I was born in Holland but migrated to Australia
with my family when I was 4 years old. For the past
18 years Ive lived in beautiful sultry Darwin
in the tropical Northern Territory of Australia.
Whats special about Darwin is that its
probably the most multicultural and multiracial
capital city in Australia famous for its wonderful
Asian style markets, strong indigenous presence,
beautiful harbour, stunning sunsets and fabulous
wilderness.
Aside from my ESL and other interests I am kept
pretty busy with 4 great kids ranging from 5 to 16
years. I know Im a late starter with this
course but hope to catch up this week. Great to
read all your stories!

with Yazigi International in Brazil). My online
resources especially Web-based
activities for Learners of English
