Ute Knoch with friends from China
Ute Knoch with two of her students from China. She wants to meet people from other parts of the world.

Hi! My name is Ute Knoch. I work at the University of Waikato Language Institute in Auckland, New Zealand.

Just recently I finished my Masters in Language Teaching at the University of Auckland.

I am very excited about this course as I haven't used computers a lot with my students and I am excited about any new ideas. It will also be great to meet people from other parts of the world.

Jerome (Jerry) Bicknell
Jerry Bicknell learned ways to integrate computer use into his instruction.

I am Jerome (Jerry) Bicknell. I am currently working as a test developer at the Educational Testing Service, but my professional experiences include teaching ESL, German, and French in the United States, and EFL in Quebec, Germany, and several Arab Gulf countries.

In the early 80's I began using word processing programs to write papers in my graduate classes and to create materials for use in the classes that I was teaching.

Gradually, I learned of other ways to use computers in language teaching, including multimedia and, in the mid 90's the Internet, and to find opportunities to integrate computer use into my instruction.

Chris Jones
Chris Jones is interested in using technology to make teaching materials and to teach students. She's excited about teaching writing and putting student writing online.

I am Chris Jones, short for Christina. I taught overseas in Egypt, Iran, Nepal, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. Now I teach ESL at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Arizona.

I am interested in using technology to make teaching materials and to teach students. I began using computers in Saudi Arabia in the 1980s. In more recent times, I've designed a couple of ESL courses to teach ESL students correct fingering on the keyboard, how to type compositions, and how to use email and the Internet.

In fall 2001 I earned a certificate in Instructional Technology from San Diego State University. More information is available on my web page at http://www3.azwestern.edu/esl/cjones/index.html.

I also teach writing from beginning to high intermediate level though which level varies from semester to semester. Consequently, I'm excited to learn how to put student writing online in an attractive and interesting way.

Dafne Gonzalez
Since joining Webheads in Action, Dafne González has devoted her time to online learning and teaching.

My name is Dafne González, I am from Caracas, Venezuela, and I have been teaching EFL for 29, almost 30 years now. I have taught all levels (pre-school to graduate courses), but I have been mainly involved with EST (English for Science and Technology) and ESP (English for Specific Purposes), namely English for Architecture students. I work at Universidad Simon Bolivar, where I am an Associate professor in the Language Department. Currently, I am in Valencia, Spain, working on my doctoral dissertation which deals with evaluation and online course design.

Starting January 2002, when I joined Webheads in Action, I became interested in online learning and teaching, and have devoted my time to learn about this exciting world of cyberspace with the help of my cyber colleagues and friends (Webheads).

If you want to learn more about me, you can visit this page: http://www.geocities.com/dygonza/biodata.html

Regarding my personal interests, I love reading, going to the beach, dancing and cooking, you can check my lesson on "Valencian paella" here: http://www.geocities.com/dygonza/paella.html

I am very eager to start this session since I am planning to post my students work online, and I think that a magazine is a very cool way to motivate them. Looking forward to meet you all in cyberspace,

Daf (this is how webheads call me, and I like it. )
