I Remember My Kitchen Set and Rag Doll

Tatiana A. Ruiz from Colombia

Nowadays, children can buy all kinds of toys in toy stores, and parents try to give them the latest fashion toys. Old traditional toys are no longer popular, but I remember a kitchen set I had when I was a child. It was my most treasured toy.

I used to play with my cousin. We spent a lot of time playing with my kitchen set; we used different leaves for food—some leaves for meat, others for eggs and rice.

I also had a rag doll, which was very traditional and cute. It was my favorite. It had colorful hair, big eyes, black shoes, and a colorful dress.

For me, my kitchen set was my own home and my rag doll was my child. I used to play house with them with my friends or my cousins. They sometimes had better sets or dolls than mine, but that didn't matter when we were playing.

I have many good memories of playing with those toys when I was a child. I treasure these memories because we shared time, imagination and dreams as we created our play world and our play families.
