Xiao Hui Gao from China Many years ago, when I was a teenager, I had a chance to attend the National Professional Dance Competition in Beijing. It is one of the nation's biggest art events. There were lots of professional dancers who came from different cities. It made me very thrilled and also a little bit nervous. Before the competition started, I practiced very hard to improve each step, gradually, one by one. I forgot what it was to be tired and just thought that I had to win. Every dancer had to choose a number. Because I was so concentrated on practicing for my performance, when the judges called my number, I didn't hear it. Eventually I heard it. I cannot describe how excited I was; I was so excited that I shed tears. Although this first competition was a long time ago, I still clearly remember it.
