Everything coming from American has been introduced successfully in my country, but I can think of some areas where our national culture has suffered because of the dominance of American culture. Italian food and restaurant activity is one area has been influenced a lot by American style fast food restaurants. This is strange in a country with traditional food like Italy, but it is necessary in modern society characterized by time binds. Many of us believe, however, that our traditional food has to be saved from such influences. Now there is a tendency to open fast food places, but with local and regional products in order not to lose our traditions. After the initial excitement of trying other kinds of foods, we now think that Italian products are healthier and should be served even in a frugal lunch. Another field where there has been a lot of American influence is fashion. Young people especially like American fashions, even though we have a lot of famous stylists and Italian fashion is famous everywhere. Sometimes, however, Italian clothes are too expensive, so not everybody can afford them.
