School Uniforms are a Nuisance

Keiko Ishibashi from Japan

I wore a uniform for six years when I was in junior high and high school. I didn't like wearing the uniform because it was a pleated skirt.

It was difficult to iron. I had to press the skirt by sandwiching it between the futon and the floor and sleeping on it. When I tossed and turned while sleeping, the shirt wrinkled.

There were many stupid school regulations about uniforms. For example, the length of the skirt had to be so many centimeters from the floor, or the length of the scarf had to be so many centimeters long.

Every morning, the teachers waited for the students at the school gate to measure the length. It was nonsense!
