'Old' Just Means Perfection of Life

Ji-Yun Park from Korea

Nobody ever likes or wants to get old. I have always been told that getting old means changing in a bad way. For example, our faces and bodies change and do not have as much attractiveness. Also, every activity of the brain decreases—we don't see as well, we don't hear as well, learning and memorizing abilities go down.

These changes affect our existence negatively. If we define the meaning of 'old' negatively this way, everything related to 'old' is anayzed negatively.

But, I want to say that I think 'getting old' will be the perfection of my life. As long I have something left to do, I will not be old. As long as I want to learn something—again and again, I will not be old, even if I become a hundred years old. Also, if I want to just relax after I retire, I will still not be old. So, if I don't ever want to get old, I will not ever do so.

However, I want a 'perfection of life' —I mean, a time when I am satisfied with my situation and have succeeded in my life. This perfection of life is what getting old means, and I want to be 'old' in this way someday. I'll never be afraid of getting old.
