My
Favorite Place Was My House
Soon
Wook Kwon from Korea
My
favorite place when I was young was my home. There
was a huge yard (Yes, yards were huge at that time,
unlike today.) There were many trees and flowers,
and some of the trees were very big and tall. Near
my house, no other house had so many big trees as
my house.
My
family raised a dog. Whenever the dog had puppies,
my parents usually gave the puppies to people in
the neighborhoods. I usually played hide and seek
with the dog. My house was in the center of the
yard, so if I ran fast and turned the corner
quickly, the dog couldn't see me. When I ran, the
dog followed me, but she usually went the wrong
way.
There
was a veranda, and on the other side of it, there
were no stairs, so the dog couldn't follow me
anymore. The dog had to stop running, and I
stopped, too. I would stare at the dog for a while
and then begin to run again.
Then
she went back to the stairs and started again,
trying to catch me. But before she found me, I hid
at the top of the house. Then she would look around
to see where I was. I had a lot of fun making her
confused.
There
was another thing I liked to do. There was a sand
box in the yard where I liked to play with toy cars
like dump trucks. I would watch a colony of ants
moving in the sand or a spider building his new
spider web in the early morning, and sometilmes I
watched a spider catch a bug and roll it into its
web.
I
lived there until I was 15 years old. I still
remember that house now. It was like an amusement
park, and it was a natural science learning place.
I really liked the house. Maybe one day, I will buy
a house like my childhood home.
