Smell of a Book

Smell
is one of the five senses, and everything has a
smell. Each smell reminds us of something, and
sometimes a smell brings back a special memory to
us. I think it doesn't matter if smells are good or
bad. What matters is your being able to
smell.
My
favorite smell is the smell of a book, new or old.
Reading is my favorite hobby. I buy a lot of books,
and I browse in the bookstore every week.
First
of all, I touch a book. Then I smell the book. Each
book has a different smell for me. I bought a
secondhand book about world history last month. The
book smelled of tobacco, coffee, and dampness. I
thought, "A man who smoked and drank coffee lived
in a damp, old room. He read this book through long
nights."
