Drugs are Dangerous

Ikue Shimizu
from Japan

I learned about drugs from a guest speaker. He taught us about many kinds of drugs and their effects. Marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and opium are prevailing drugs in the world. Of course, these are illegal drugs, but many drug addicts use them. If people use these drugs, they may get many diseases; for example, AIDS, HIV, and lung cancer. Also, they may lose track of time, be unable to concentrate, have hallucinations, and so on. Drugs control our thoughts, and the end result is that drug addicts are sent to their deaths. It's very dangerous! However, the guest speaker said, "Tobacco and alcohol are the most dangerous drugs because these are easy to get, and so many people are killed by tobacco and alcohol compared to other drugs." I was very surprised to hear that. One student asked, "Why is tobacco legal?" I thought that people should not use drugs easily, including tobacco. These are very bad for our health. The number of drug addicts is increasing now, and also smokers are increasing too. I think that we need to stop it.

Drugs are Poison

Masumi Takeuchi from Japan

I went to a presentation on illegal drugs, so I was able to learn some new information about drugs. I thought drugs were scary. I learned that drugs are harmful to our brains. Drug addicts want to stop taking drugs, but their bodies still crave them. It isn't easy for addicts to stop using and abusing drugs. I think it's easy to get drugs. For example, cigarettes and alcohol are also drugs. In my opinion, we must try not to poison ourselves with drugs.
