In
the year 1979, there was a war that made my country
Nicaragua suffer a lot. All of the population
suffered because of the many deaths, injuries and
destruction that the war caused as it was going on.
Many
families were separated because of the war.
Unfortunately, I was one of those many families. I
was forced to leave the city and the family I grew
up in. I had to run away from my country, leaving
my parents, brother, and the rest of my relatives.
Alone, without help, I crossed the border of
Nicaragua to Honduras, without a job or anybody to
help me to go on with my life.
Six
years passed, to be exact, without having any
communication with my family. They thought that I
was dead until the year 1988, when I got the
opportunity to reunite with my family.
That
was a big tragedy for me. The separation from or
loss of a family member is a terrble thing.
