The Taiwan Earthquake

Hui-Yu Yang from Taiwan

Last year I experienced a terrible earthquake. It happened in Taiwan on September 21. The most damaged area of the city was the central part where almost all the buildings collapsed and many people were killed and injured.

Many people were buried under ground because of the fallling stone and sand. A lot of children lost their parents and became orphans during that night.

It was a very difficult time after the earthquake because there was no electricity for a long time, and people were afraid of the aftershocks of the earthquake.

Many people were left homeless. They lived in the shelters and had to wait for a supply of food and water to arrive. It took a long time to rebuild their houses and to forget the sorrow. I hope there are no more earthquakes in the future.
