We had prepared all season for this final cup match. It was night time, but it was still very hot, and the stadium was filled with flood lights.

My Soccer Coach

Noushad Nowzari from Iran

Last summer, my friends and I went to the college stadium. At the warm up for our soccer match, the coach was giving me a hard time because we were goofing off. I was already in a bad mood because I had car problems that morning.

This caused the coach to be especially upset with me. He believes, "You should never be late, no matter what the problem is." I was in such a hurry that I had forgotten my soccer shoes, but I did not want to tell the coach because of his hot temper.

We had prepared all season for this final cup match. It was night time, but it was still very hot, and the stadium was filled with flood lights. At half time, we were tied at 0-0. In the second half, we were still tied when the lights went out.

The other team got scared and panicked while our team remained calm. I learned that day how important the discipline was that our coach had taught us. From that day on, I tried to be ready for anything because nobody knows the future.
