Not
long ago, my brother and I went back to a corral, a
place where I hadn't been for many years. It
suddenly hit me. The odor of cows, horses, sand,
country, wood, everything reminded me of when I was
a child.
It
reminded me of when I walked through the cows in
the mornings while the cowboys worked, and of when
we used to throw lassos to the young cows to put
them down and mark them, or when we put them in a
line to wash them in the pool.
A
lot of memories, a lot of events and times flooded
through my mind in just a few seconds just because
of the smell and standing there once again, in the
middle of the corral. I remembered being happy at
that past time in my life, and I decided to come
back again to rediscover those moments of my life
that are almost lost....now that there is still
time to do it, before it is too late.
A
memory is a good thing; but if you can revive it
and have it with you always, that's even better.
