Punishment
Teaches Children
Yi Xie
from China
In
China, there is a saying: "If you don't punish your
kids when they do something bad, they won't be good
people in the future." Sometimes kids deserve
punishment so that they can learn this lesson.
When
I was a kid, my family taught me very well. They
told me the reasons first; they told me what is
right and what is wrong.
But
when I did something really bad, my family wanted
me to remember not to do it again, so they would
use a stick to punish me. It hurt a lot, but I knew
that it was very serious, and I remembered not to
do it again.
But
when you are really angry and punish a child, you
need to control yourself. Even though the child did
something bad, he/she is still a kid. Teaching
children right from wrong is more important and
more useful than punishing them.
