Having
Your Own Space is Important
Yoon-Wha

I
do not remember my whole childhood, but what I
absolutely remember is that I had my own room. My
room was located on the second floor, whereas my
parents' room and my sister's room were located on
the first floor. So, until I left home, I enjoyed
freedom and independence.
Now
I share a room with a roommate in a dormitory. I
don't exactly feel uncomfortable. However,
comparing the two living arrangements, I think a
private room may guarantee privacy.
The
most important factor is freedom of activity and
freedom of thought. In spite of living in a
dormitory, I enjoy freedom of thought, but my
privacy is disturbed. While my roommate is
sleeping, I can not turn on the TV.
Of
course, needless to say, I can't listen to music
out loud. When I dry my hair with a hair dryer, I
have to be careful not to wake her up. I think
having your own space gives you privacy.
