I
Remember Those Nights
Manuel
A. Constanza from El Salvador
Last
Sunday, I went to see a movie about the revolution
in Chile. The movie, was about an American
businessman who went to Chile to look for his son.
The
American Embassy protected the American citizens in
that country, but the businessman's son was
missing. The United States' Intelligence Service in
Chile knew the businessman's son was dead, but they
didn't want to tell him because it was a top
secret.
I
remember what happened in my country El Salvador.
In the 80's, to be young was a crime or offense
against the government. It was an offense only to
be young or not to be in agreement with the
gobernors.
I
remember how in the night, the soldiers took the
doors or simply broke down the doors and pulled out
the young people, and one or two weeks later the
dead bodies appeared and nobody said anything
because they didn't want to be killed.
I
remembered all this when I went to see that movie
last Saturday.
