When
I was about 14 years old, I lived in Surathanee,
which is in the South of Thailand. A flood hit our
district because of a rain storm. The roads were
flooded with a lot of water.
My
family and I worked to find things--brick, stone,
and sand bags--in order to dam the water that
flooded our house. Also, other people did like our
family.
The
people who lived next to the river had to climb up
the roofs of their houses as the water from the
river flooded their houses very quickly. They had
to sit on the roofs with their families and some of
their things that they had been able to bring with
them until a rescue party came to help
them.
There
were many consequences of this flood. For example,
my father's rubber business was damaged because his
rubber got wet and he couldn't use it in his
business anymore.
In
addition, people who had to go out had to use boats
instead of cars or walking. Many houses were
damaged. People had to stay at the places that the
rescue parties prepared for them. Some merchants
chose this chance to make more money. They hoarded
the food and products in order to see them to
people expensively.
