The Cat I Would Go Back For

Susan or Grace?

Vera Titov from Russia

When we stopped in the little store in the Native American village somewhere in Arizona on our way to Nevada, surprisingly not jewelry caught my attention but the cat named Susan. I would have named her Grace because of the way she walked and moved, how she greeted us, even her voice—everything showed how sophisticated that cat was.

She absolutely didn't match with her owner—a clumsy, overweight man. I think she carried that mysterious native spirit, the best that I could imagine about Native Americans.

On our way further, we saw many signs like "Come back. Good Indians are behind you." or "Come back. Good chief is waiting for you." They should put up a sign saying "Come back. The good Indian cat is waiting for you", and you can bet your life I would come back again.
