Talking to People Worldwide

Carmen Amaya from Mexico

I've always thought that computers are for somebody else, not for me. When I was in high school I had computer class, but I always played in that hour. Two years ago I decided to start in computers, so I studied three courses at the Tech high school. But for a reason I don't remember now, I had to quit.

When I started to hear about Internet, I really got interested in how to talk to persons around the world. At the first time, it looked very simple. We were talking with people from another CIS school and with someone from Malyasia.

When my turn arrived, I gave it to someone else. I did that because I was afraid to erase something in the computer of write something inappropriate. But the second time my turn came, I sat down and started to write, ask questions. Then I noticed I was talking with three different persons at the same time! Of course I needed some help but I think it was easier than I thought.

I really enjoyed that 15 minutes. I was talking with a guy from Montreal, Canada. He sent us his picture over Internet—that was exciting! He looked very happy, too.
