Doraemon is a blue cat-like robot in Japanese comic books. He is very popular in Japan. Everybody loves him—children, mothers, students. He came from the future to the present in a time machine.

He has a special pocket in his stomach and is always creating many clever new inventions to help his friend, Nobita, who is an elementary school student.

Nobita has problems: he is always crying and the other students are always bullying him. When Nobita gets discouraged, Doraemon tries to cheer him up.

Japanese girls who love Doraemon

When I asked my friends what they thought about Doraemon, one of them said that every Japanese will think at least once: "I would like to meet Doraemon. That's absolute."

Another said that he likes Doraemon because Doraemon can grant our requests. Mothers love him because he is a friendly, nonviolent comic book character. They think Doraemon is a good comic book for their children.

You can see Doraemon everywhere—on TV, in comic books, in magazines, in train stations, in book stores, and on stamps. Doraemon is also used to sell things. You can see him on pencils, pencil cases, notebooks, even kites.
